1.Ethnic Niche Are Creations Within Industries Or Occupations
1. Ethnic niche are creations within industries or occupations that affect the desirability and availability of jobs that leads to ethnic division (Race, Ethnicity, and the American Labor Market: Whatââ¬â¢s at Work?, p. 5). They are basically inclinations for certain types of workers. Ethnic niches can be good environments to have in the workforce if oneââ¬â¢s personal ethnic or racial group is included. But, ethnic niches can bar certain groups from getting the jobs and limiting mobility within them. The job queue is an entity that is affected by economic change and restructuring while also being affected by discrimination (Race, Ethnicity, and the American Labor Market: Whatââ¬â¢s at Work?, p. 5). Functional theory conveys that ethnic and racial disparities happen because the prejudice that is emitted serves a certain purpose in society (Race and Ethnicity lecture used in my intro to socio logy class last spring). The hate that stems from discrimination is used for something in society. For example, President Donald Trumpââ¬â¢s administration uses immigrants as the scapegoat for the economic problems in the United States. Instead of blaming wealthy bankers and large corporations for their actions, President Trump shifts the culpability to immigrants taking jobs of Americans. Conflict Theory perceives race and ethnicity in regard to economic and political power (Race and Ethnicity lecture used in my intro to sociology class last spring). An example of this is the Rwandan governmentââ¬â¢s genocide. The government, controlled by Hutus, has launched a genocide campaign against the Tutsis. By doing this, the Hutus control all of the political power and economic assets of the country. Lastly, interactionism focuses on the labeling of groups (Race and Ethnicity lecture used in my intro to sociology class last spring). An example of interactionism is when black children could not attend white-only schools in the United States in the early 1900s. In this case, one is supposed to get first hand information concerning the peoples reaction to the charges of water and thus it places the interview as the best option.. Though it is time consuming, costly and sometimes it might be very hard to compare the information, it happens to be the best for this type of information as the researcher will be able to get a wide range of information from the consumer and develop a relationship with the client. (McNamara 2008) There might be some other questions such as ââ¬ËIs employee motivation greater in small firms?ââ¬â¢ that may require one to apply different methods of data collection. Such is the case study method. This would be very effective as the researcher would do a comprehensive study and comparison of cases from different places so that he can come with a conclusion. The researcher may also employ the method of use of checklists. This would be a quick and non threatening method of data collection as all that the researcher needs is to get the information of the employeesââ¬â¢ performance from different companies and then compare the results to come up with a solution. (Malhotra 2004) If one has a question such as ââ¬ËDo happy employees lead to happy customers?ââ¬â¢ you may be required to employ the method that will give you the best results. In this case, you are dealing with the personal experience of the employees themselves. Due to their security concerns, they may not be ready to give the answer concerning the way the questions are asked. So the best method to employ here is the interview and the observation method of data collection. With the interview, the researcher will be able to win the employees confidence so that they can share with them their experience and their feelings concerning the job. The researcher may also employ the observation method where he will be required to observe the customers reaction when dealing with some employees. It should be done in a way that it will not affect the customersââ¬â¢ reaction. However, this may cause distraction to the customers and result to the type of information collected being not so true and this leads to poor conclusions. (Corlien M et al 2003) Other questions such as ââ¬ËDo employee benefits make employees happy?ââ¬â¢ require that one gets the real face to face conversation and response from the person addressed. In this type of question, I would suggest that the use of an interview is the best method. This is because, with the interview, one will be able to get the first hand information from the person involved. The researcher will be able to vary the type of question to get the real fact about the personââ¬â¢s feeling on employee benefit. According to me, the role of HR in the HR shared services is to provide consultancy on issues such as payrolls, relocation of services, recruitments, benefits , reimbursement of transport expenses , pension benefits administration etc. The HR consultant provides high level professional support to the companies in this this regard. I believe that the activities are performed by the HR consultant in a stable and precise manner. He advices the purchase department of the company to combine the procurement of the resources which offers savings through economies of scale (Hume, 2014). My analysis is that the role of HR consultant is to utilize the best methods to accomplish the task. He must deliver the project on time and in the cost effective manner. He must supply the right information at the right time to the customers, both in process and content. He should deliver the best quality solutions which fulfills the customer needs. His role is to strengthen the HR so that it becomes more strategic and to decrease its involvement in administration processes (Scully Levin, 2010) In my opinion, HR consultants suggest the newly established company to formulate the policies and procedures and they make sure that the employees of the company comply with the applicable rules and regulations. They also conduct HR audits in this regard to ensure compliance. In larger companies, they also provide consultations on grievance programs. They help the human resource to cope with the changes adopted by the company. So, to conclude, it can be said that the HR consultant comprehends the issues and ineffectiveness of the human resources and suggest the ways to rectify them.
